Should I choose Metal or Resin?

This is really a matter of personal preference.

Both hold fine details and sharp edges incredibly well, there is practically no difference at all in that regard (and both materials vastly exceed plastic in detail!). The only differences are that the microscopic surface texture of metal is a little rougher and mould lines can sometimes be more visible (although that’s not guaranteed). For display case painters those advantages of resin can be important enough to justify the increase in cost but resin is also more brittle and long thin parts can be prone to snapping in situation where metal would just bend (easily bent back again easily with your finders) so many gamers prefer metal for that reason.

For highly detailed side by side comparison photos, check out blog post: https://moonstonethegame.com/2016/10/29/resin-vs-metal-comparison-photos/

Another factor to consider is that the joints of multi-part metal miniatures (where glue is applied) can be more prone to coming apart when bumped or bashed compared to resin. This can be negated by ‘pinning’ the joints.

The final factor backers should consider is the delivery time for your order. Metal is a lot faster to produce than resin and backers who choose Metal will almost certainly get their orders a ahead of backers who opt for Resin. Its hard to give precise estimates but the difference could be in the range of 2-8 weeks, depending on the final ratio of orders.

Can I make substitutions in the Starter Set?

The Starter Set will come packaged as single unit and so it isn’t possible to make substitutions and adjustments. However if you want to make a customised order you can use the ‘Pledge Without Reward Level’ option and then add the ‘Complete Accessories Pack’ and ‘Rules Pamplet’ add-ons providing all of the contents of the Starter Set besides the miniatures, and then add whatever Troupe Boxes you want.

Will the Stretch Goal Miniatures be added automatically to me order?

Not all stretch goals are automatically added to your order unless stated as such. The 4 Troupe Boxes, Giant, Troll and Rulebook are add-ons and you must increase your pledge if you would like them included. We are a small independent trying to make a start in the industry through quality rather than quantity and the stretch goals are set at the levels we need to cover the many additional costs involved in to bringing them to life. I’m afraid that we’re just not structured to give away a ton of free plastic miniatures as free stretch goals as some of the massive companies have been doing, but we can assure you of the very highest quality in the product you receive.

Will you be using a Pledge Manager after the campaign?

Yes we will be using a Pledge Manager after the Campaign to finalise all the details of your order and calculate postage. In the Pledge Manager you will be able add extra funds for add-ons and if that tips your total pledge amount (before postage) over the £58 threshold then you will still get the free additional miniature, even if your initial pledge was below this level. Of course if you add the additional funds during the campaign it will help us unlock the stretch goals but we do understand not everyone has immediate access to finances.

Is the Firespitter included in the 'I want it all' pledge?

No, we deliberately left him out of the bundle as we run a separate pilot Kickstarter for this model a couple of months ago so many of our backers already have it, however if you want to get a copy you can still get him as an add-on by increasing clicking back your on your pledge and increasing the amount by +£16.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
